If You Aren’t Ductless Yet, You Could Be Missing Savings

And if you are as serious as we are about efficiently cooling (or heating) your home, then we have a recommendation for you—ductless heating and air conditioning in Spokane Valley, WA .

If you’ve read our blog before, then you’ve likely seen us talk about the benefits of ductless heating and cooling. Not only will it keep you effectively comfortable in your home, but there are a number of economical advantages of utilizing such a system. Keep reading to learn exactly how having a ductless system installed can save you money.

Ductless Systems Are Heat Pumps

A heat pump system is an HVAC system in which the refrigerant process can be reversed to provide you with not only effective cooling in the summer, but efficient heating in the winter as well—the latter being perhaps the biggest benefit of using a heat pump.

Ductless systems operate on heat pump technology. This is a benefit in itself, but not the only way that going ductless saves you money.

Heat Transfer vs. Heat Generation

As we stated above, a ductless system is essentially a heat pump, which means that it can reverse its mode of operation. At this time of the year, refrigerant is evaporated in the outdoor coil, and condensed outdoors to release heat.

In the winter, though, this refrigerant is evaporated in the outdoor coil, and condensed in the indoor units in order to use that heat to warm the air in your living space. In other words, in the wintertime your HVAC system transfers heat rather than generating it, which uses up far less energy, subsequently saving you some dough!

Zoned Controlled Cooling and Heating

Zone control systems are often installed with central air conditioners and furnaces to help with efficiency, but with a ductless system this comes naturally. The individual blowers—air handlers—used by the ductless system are each controlled independently of one another.

This means you can have different areas of your home set for different temperatures, and won’t need to waste energy cooling (or heating) rooms that are either unoccupied at the time, or have an occupant who would prefer a different temperature.

No Air Leaks

One of the biggest culprits of energy inefficiency in homes that utilize central air conditioners and furnaces is damaged ductwork, which prevents conditioned air from making it to its intended destination.

As a result, your HVAC system works harder and harder to try to balance temperatures throughout your home. If your HVAC system has to work that hard, it means that it is performing inefficiently, which costs you more rather than saving you money. But with a ductless system, you don’t need to worry about this problem. After all, without ducts, there are no air leaks!
