“Why Isn’t MY AC Blowing Cold Air?”

Summers can get pretty oppressive around here, which is why many residents in the area are glad to have a good air conditioner to keep them cool. You are one of these individuals, but you’ve started to discover that your air conditioner isn’t operating as reliably as you might like. In fact, it isn’t really cooling your home at all because the air it produces isn’t cool!

When your AC starts to act up, especially when we are about to head into the hottest months of the year, it can be pretty stressful. Without the right approach, you may be struggling through several months without reliable cooling for the home which can mess with your comfort in a multitude of ways.

When your air conditioner acts up, it is a good idea to reach out for professional air conditioning repair in Hayden, ID to get the core problem fixed so you can enjoy a cool home again. Here are some possible issues that may be causing your AC to produce lukewarm air.

Why Your AC Isn’t Producing Cool Air

You have a problem on your hands—your AC is pumping out air but that air isn’t cold! This means that it isn’t going to help cool the home down at all. So what is causing this issue and how do you fix it? We have the answers and the services you need.

  1. A refrigerant leak. Your air conditioner needs refrigerant to transfer heat out of your home. If it develops a leak in the refirgerant line, that necessary chemical can esccape, throwing off the carefullly calculated pressure in the line itself which makes circulation harder and, by defaut, slows down or halts the creation of cool air.
  2. A dirty evaporator coil. Your evaporator coil is the part of the AC that hot air passes over to be cooled off. If over time that coil bcomes extremely dirty, that layer of debris can hinder the heat transfer process and mess with your ability to get cool air from your AC. What’s more, this situation will only worsen over time, eventually leading to a build-up of ice on the coil that can cause serious problems down the line.
  3. A clogged condenser unit. The condenser unit outside your home is where the heat that your refrigerant absorbs is released. At least, this is where that should happen. If your condenser unit has debris around it that is hindering the release of heat, this will cause problems for the entire system.

As you can see there is more than one potential problem that can lead to your AC producing warm air. And while we can recognize that your system is trying, warm air won’t help anyone keep cool! If your system needs help getting back to prime condition so that it can produce cool air again, it will require professional repairs. For that, you can come to the team at ACI Northwest for help.
