What Can You Do to Prep Your Heater for Winter?

Cooler temperatures are here to stay for fall, with winter falling shortly behind. While we don’t get the blizzard conditions that states in the Midwest and the east coast do, you still need a reliable heating system to get you through some pretty chilly nights and cooler days. Now is the time to get your heating system properly prepared for winter.

Keep reading to learn more about what you can do to fully prep your heater for winter.

Schedule Maintenance

We cannot stress enough how important it is to have routine maintenance conducted on your heating system. During this appointment, our staff fully inspects, cleans, and adjusts your heater to make sure its functioning as it should. We’ll also make recommendations for repairs at this time—following up on these repairs immediately is essential to avoiding costlier emergencies down the line.

Clear Vents

The vents supplying air from your heater are susceptible to becoming clogged with debris over the summer. Clear them out and make sure that your heater can properly eliminate itself of exhaust gases. Additionally, you should clear a space around your heater of at least two feet to make sure it can operate as safely as possible.

Change Filters

Changing the filters is something that we can do during your maintenance appointment, however you definitely do not want to wait an entire year to complete this simple task. Your air filter is designed to protect the inside components of your HVAC system, and needs to be changed every 1-3 months to ensure that dirt and debris doesn’t build up on those components and impact your system as well as your indoor air quality.

ACI Northwest is here to help with your home comfort needs and concerns throughout Liberty Lake, WA and beyond. Contact us today to schedule your heating maintenance appointment.
