Tips to Help Your Air Conditioner through the End of Summer

Summer may officially be over next month, but we still have plenty of warm weather to contend with ahead. Perhaps your concerned that your air conditioner won’t make it to the end of the season without suffering from a breakdown—whether it be due to age or numerous repair needs over the past season.

There’s no need to worry. We’ve shared some tips below to give your air conditioning system a fighting chance of lasting through the rest of summer. And when you need professional services done on your air conditioner, just give our experts a call.

Schedule Prompt Repairs

When temperatures soar, you truly can’t afford to ignore even the smallest sign of an operating issue with your AC system. Whether it’s odd clicking sounds coming from your cabinet, ice building up on your evaporator coil, or there is short-cycling occurring, call for repairs immediately so we can get your system back up and running as it should be.

Set Your Thermostat as High as You Are Comfortable With

There’s really no need to have your air conditioner set 20 degrees below the outside temperature: in fact most systems will struggle to reach a desired temperature that’s 20 degrees below the outside temperature. Try to make it a rule to keep your thermostat at 78 degrees so that your AC doesn’t have to work as hard to do its job.

Keep Your Blinds Closed

Are your windows equipped with solar shade screens? These help reduce the amount of heat entering your home during the day. If you don’t have these, then you can at least keep your blinds or drapes closed during the day so your air conditioner doesn’t need to run all day.

ACI Northwest is here to help you with all your air conditioning service needs throughout Coeur d’Alene, WA and beyond. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for helpful advice!
