The Benefits of a Heat Pump

Looking for a new air conditioning system to get you through the hot summer? We strongly recommend heat pumps to any customer who wants a high-performance, high-efficiency system that will last for many years to come. And as an added bonus, these systems are efficient heaters as well! In this guide, we detail the benefits for you, as well as how the system works.

What Is a Heat Pump?

A heat pump is essentially a standard central air conditioning system: an indoor and outdoor unit that pumps refrigerant from part to part in order to remove heat from the air in a home and bring it outside. The difference is a few components that help it to pump refrigerant in the other direction as well. The reversing valve switches the direction of the refrigerant when you put it in heating mode so that it can remove heat from the air outside (even when it is cold out!) and bring it indoors.

3 Benefits of Heat Pumps

Here’s why we recommend heat pumps to so many of our clients in the area.

  • Use it in colder weather: You can continue to make use of your heat pump even as the temperatures drop very low. The heat pump will struggle when the temperatures are too extreme, but additional heating elements make it so that this is never a concern. One heat pump can replace your heater and your air conditioner.
  • Highly efficient: Heat pumps are manufactured with the latest technology, which means they are able to operate using as little energy as possible. In the winter, a heat pump is very efficient because less energy is used to move heat from place to place than to generate heat.
  • High-performance, durable systems: Most heat pumps built today are built to last. As long as it is professionally installed and serviced, your heat pump should last for many years to come.
